On the heels of dealing with the great resignation we now are facing inflation and raising gas prices. Dealing with high gas prices is not new although not welcome. Based on how we addressed the issue in years past we created an idea sheet on 15 ways to help employees at the gas pump. 

First and foremost, this is about expressing concern for employee’s financial wellness. Employees will appreciate leadership compassion and authenticity that go along with tokens. 

  1. Offering bus or shuttle services
  2. Organize car pooling 
  3. Offer pre-tax options for parking and public transportation 
  4. Continue work from home – show cost savings for employees 
  5. Gasoline gift cards 
  6. Raise your mileage reimbursement rates
  7. Rethink sales and delivery routes
  8. Shorten workweeks
  9. Give a temporary commuting allowance
  10. Point employees to gas apps that helps highlight the lowest cost gas in the area
  11. Find gas rewards programs to enroll in
  12. Look for grocery store rewards programs
  13. Offer car optimization services to ensure optimal gas mileage
  14. Give tips on best gas mileage use (not speeding, avoid excessive idling)
  15. Provide errand running services
