Rapid City, SD, October 12, 2022 -- Tresha Moreland recently published book, “Navigating the Healthcare Workforce Shortage: Safeguarding Your Organization’s Most Important Asset” has received a Bugbee-Falk Book Award from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).

The book outlines 6 levers employers can utilize to improve their ability to recruit and retain talent. “Every industry has been hit hard with workforce shortages” acknowledged Moreland. “This new era requires us to think differently in how we can recruit and retain talent. Standard workforce practices that existed prior to the pandemic may very well be obsolete.”  

“If anything, the pandemic taught us is that life is short,” said Moreland. “Many of us have lost loved ones for various reasons during the pandemic, now more than ever people want to spend their time with what matters the most.” “Purpose and flexibility, among other things have a deeper meaning for people today.” 

“The keys to success for employers will include adopting long-term flexible work schedules, developing alternate career paths, cross training, and effectively addressing safety and burnout concerns,” said Moreland.
