The gifts are bought, wrapped and given. The rushing about for the holiday season has subsided. The quiet thought sinks in that a new year is upon us. We approach the New Year with curious wonderment and careful anticipation.
The feeling and thoughts of starting fresh abound. Will there be new opportunities this year? What challenges will we face? Or you may be one to just float along without giving it another thought. Perhaps you are over setting same ‘ole New Year Resolutions that get broken.
Let this year be the year to go beyond uninspired to meaningful goals. Here are 5 ways to accomplish it:
Write Your Own Destiny
“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” ~ William Shakespeare
Sit down and write what you want to get out of this year. Jot down points on how to get there, even if it is to ask for help. Even if the list is long, its small changes done consistently that can make a big difference.
Seek Independence
Are you burdened with a job you don't like, debts, or arbitrary rules that prevent you from living a life of your dreams? Seek independence. Make a plan to free yourself with financial burdens or a suffocating job. With the virtual world we live in the opportunities are out there. You just have to be willing to seek independence, make a plan, and act on it.
Roll With Change
“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” ~ Jim Rohn
In my 30 years of experience, I’ve come to realize that when the challenge is before us, wonderful change can be close by. It depends largely on your mindset. Choose an overcomer mindset this year and you’ll be surprised at the opportunity in your path.
Don't Miss The Moment
“Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.” Mother Teresa
There are so many distractions in life, work and in our careers. From constant emails, text messages, to conflicting priorities and agendas. Consider taking more time yourself to reflect and remember the important moments that will shape our year.
You Got This
“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
Self-confidence can mean the difference between success and failure. Doing what we fear and having the ability to persevere despite setbacks is a common link in most successful people. Go ahead…you got this!
Learn Lessons And Let Go
2022: Thank you for all the lessons.
