Spread the love

In this modern world, most businesses are aware of the term company culture, and it is more important than ever according to a recent study by Deloitte University.

Long gone are the days of the basic 9-5 working hours - now employees want much more from their employers. They want a good culture and a working environment that makes them feel relaxed, appreciated and comfortable.

We all know social media has taken over the world - becoming an indispensable tool in most industries, including HR. Using social media to showcase your company culture is a great way to entice prospective talent, strengthen your employer value proposition and retain a modern workforce. It’s also a great way for your clients to see the people behind the business. People that they probably deal with every day.

Let’s get to it, here are five very easy ways you can begin showcasing your company culture on social media.

#1. Sharing is caring 📸

Everyone loves a bit of behind-the-scenes footage, from customers to prospective employees.

Taking and sharing a picture of your workspace is an easy way to give your followers more insight into your company. If your office has any eye-catching features, be sure to highlight these in your social posts.

Aside from your great customer service and quality products (we’re sure!), there is nothing your consumers or clients would love more than getting an inside look on their favorite brands, companies, and businesses.

Offer plenty of behind the scenes look into what your team is up to, cool shots of your HQ and give your followers an exclusive peek into your company culture.

#2. Promote celebrations and events 🎉

We all enjoy celebrating with our teams. Whether it’s an exciting new partnership, a huge win at an awards night or an important work anniversary. These important moments are perfect for sharing on social media.

They show prospective employees that you reward and recognise your staff in great ways. These promotions don’t even need to be limited to big celebrations.  Even small events like cutting cakes in celebration of employees birthdays and other life milestones can be an effective social media post to promote your culture.

#3. Introducing employees and what makes your company great 👋

Staff profiles are a great way to showcase not only your great company culture but the amazing people that are a part of it.

For example, last year Ernst & Young ran an online campaign called: Flextoberwhere they showcased different staff members. In this campaign, they discussed how these staff members made the most of the company’s flexible work policies.

This made Ernst & Young’s work culture look very attractive, plus it positioned the company as one that cares for society at large.

Obviously, not every business has the budget or resources to run a big campaign like this.

But a simple picture and introductory bio all about your new employee is just as effective. This is an especially good exercise for customer-facing employees. They’ll appreciate putting a face to the name.

Highlighting your employees on social media will help to improve your company culture in the long run too. It shows current and potential customers why your company is the best, and why they should either start or continue to work with you.

Don’tforget: Always get permission from your employees before posting photos of them online!

#4 Create separate social media accounts 🔖

Many companies choose to create separate social media accounts to showcase their people and culture. This is a great idea if you have the resources to maintain this type of presence and if you feel showcasing your people and culture on your regular social media pages would confuse your messaging.

A great example of a company with a separate HR-focussed social media page is Hubspot.

This strategy is especially worth thinking about if you have a business running from different locations. It’s a great way to keep your current staff connected and show the bigger picture or your brand.

#5 Turning your employees into brand ambassadors 🗣️

As a business, you should empower your employees to post about your company culture. Make sure employees feel comfortable to share their personal experiences of working for the organisation and let their individual personalities build a trustworthy connection with clients or potential talent.

Posts coming from employees of the business will also seem a lot less bias than if posts are always coming from the business itself.

Employee-generated content showcases your workers just being themselves around the office. You want to make sure it’s still to your brand values, but also unique and personable. Don’t set too many obstacles or barriers for your employees that will deter them from posting about their working environment.

There you have it. Five quick and easy tips for showcasing your amazing company culture on social media for all the world to see.
