Artificial intelligence has become incorporated into nearly every part of the business world. Over the past decade or so, AI has become a particularly vital component of the hiring process. From the initial job posting to smarter interviewing, AI is making the entire recruitment process simpler and more efficient from start to finish.
The initial job posting
AI is being used even in the earliest stages of recruiting through aiding in the creation and optimization of the job advertisement itself. Through the use of data collected and predictive analytics, the technology can take the guesswork out of the job posting and instead provide insight about which particular keywords, traits, and descriptions will draw in the ideal candidates.
Finding and screening candidates
One of the most difficult parts of the recruiting process is initially identifying the best candidates for the job and screening them efficiently. Following a job posting, HR recruiters can be flooded with hundreds, sometimes thousands of resumes to sort through – a time consuming and exhausting task. 52 percent of talent acquisition leaders agree that the hardest part of recruitment is this stage. Enter artificial intelligence.
AI is meant to streamline the most tedious, labor-intensive parts of the process, starting with finding the right applicants. AI allows for highly targeted candidate identification through automated searches by job title, industry, location, salary, and many other qualifiers.
Once the matching candidates are isolated from the larger group, they need to be sorted through. AI provides the ability to screen each and every resume received to pick out the best matches based on the requirements of the position without bias. It then will rank, grade, and create a shortlist of the most qualified applicants for the recruiters to move forward with. All of this can be done independent of any direct contact with HR personnel, saving them valuable time and energy.
Smarter interviewing analyses
Once the applicants have been screened and condensed into a smaller pool of only the most qualified, the next step in the hiring process is recognizing which of these candidates are the ideal fit for a position. Interviews provide a much more holistic understanding of potential employees and are an imperative part of finding the right fit. Although this can be a people heavy task, artificial intelligence is becoming an important tool in analyzing candidates throughout their interviews as well.
Many companies are opting for phone and video-based interviews which provide the ability to use AI tools. AI recruiting video platforms use biometric and psychometric analysis to evaluate a person’s answers. Through examination of voice quality, pacing, energy, body language, and facial expressions, the technology can provide a better understanding of each candidate beyond just the words they are saying.
This data can then be processed through machine learning and predictive analytics to ascertain which candidates have the highest potential for success in any given position. With this knowledge, recruiters can then further categorize potential hires and eliminate those who could prove to be unsuccessful over time.
Although human resources will always be a people-heavy industry, the way time and energy are allocated within it is changing drastically with the help of artificial intelligence recruiting tools. AI for recruiting creates a more streamlined, efficient way to post jobs, identify and screen candidates, and even analyze potential employees. In using this tech, HR professionals no longer need to spend valuable time on the more mundane tasks associated with their jobs and can instead focus on finding the best possible hires.
