September 11, 2001, shook apart what many of us in the U.S. took for granted. Safety on our soil.

That tragic day pulled us together in a significant way. Our day-to-day issues, our daily worries, and general busy schedules seemed petty. No longer were we different races, ages or classes but we were united as one nation.

We are back to being focused on our day-to-day issues, daily worries, and general busy schedules. Plus it is sad to see what seems like an increase in conflict in the workplace, our neighborhood, or our local store today. We are back to being divided on whatever platform that exists. It is sad, especially when something so tragic in 2001 patched us together like a quilt.

We have the choice to pull together, succeed, and carry on.

September is also a month that ushers in Autumn. To me, September is a month where relief from the heat comes. It is a time to enjoy cooler air, our surroundings and each other. One of the birth flowers of this month is the "forget-me-not."

We ask that you take some time today, reflect and remember....

We remember. Be Safe. Achieve More.

Where were you on September 11, 2011?
